Manuel Pellegrini will become Manchester City's next manager. The Málaga coach recently reached an agreement with the Premier League outfit after City's Director of Football Txiki Bergiristain was given carte blanche to bring the Chilean coach on board by club owners. Bergiristain met with Pellegrini and his agent, Jesús Martíntez in a Madrid restaurant at the end of April to discuss bringing the coach to the Etihad for next season. Pellegrini has already notified his players that he will not be continuing with the club next season.

Mancini still has a further four years to run on his contract with City but there has been a question mark hanging over his future since City failed to qualify from the group stage of the this year's Champions League. Pellegrini's contract at Málaga expires in 2015 but he will be able to untie himself from the Andalucian club by paying the four million euro buy-out fee.

Once City make the news official, Begiristain will begin a rebuilding project which could include highly-rated Málaga midfielder Isco, whose is valued at 35 million euros - a fee which Bergiristain is hopeful City can bargain down.
