Andoni Zubizarreta, Barcelona's director of football, spoke to Spanish television channel Telecinco, where he discussed goalkeeper Valdes' contract renovation talks. "The conversations we've had with his agent and with him are going well. I won't talk about rumours", he said. Sources had previously said that the player would not be renewing his contract, which expires in 2014.
Zubizarreta also talked about David Villa, who was on the scoresheet in the Copa del Rey game against Cordoba. "The public's reaction and that of his teammates was excellent. It's not just the two goals he scored though, he's such a high quality player".
