Barcelona midfielder, Andrés Iniesta, spoke out today against a possible transfer of team mate David Villa, who he considers a "key player". Iniesta made the comments in Albacete this afternoon at a ceremony to celebrate the re-naming of the club's training ground in his honour, as the best player ever to have come out of the club.
During the presentation Iniesta was asked about the possible sale of striker David Villa during the winter transfer window. "I don't know if that's a possibility, I don't think so; personally I wouldn't like it, because Villa is a key player", replied Iniesta.
The Spain and Barcelona midfielder confessed to being "just another supporter" of Albacete, and asked everybody to help, to the greatest extent possible, the club to get out of the critical situation in which it is in.
The training ground of Albacete Balompié is now to be called after Andrés Iniesta. The midfielder is also the maximum shareholder in the club, where he started out in the game. The player said it was an "honour" that the club's installations would be named after him and once again asked everybody to help by subscribing for shares in the club; Albacete are looking to increase their share capital by 3.2 million euros, but have so far raised only 60,000 euros.
Albacete currently play in the lower Second Division (Segunda División B) and Iniesta offered all his support to the players in the hope that they can return to the full Segunda División. He also had words for the fans: "Independent of the results from here to the end of the season, please support the team so that Albacete can be where it deserves to be".
