Celta de Vigo forward Iago Aspas claimed on Monday that the Galician outfit have "nothing to lose and everything to gain" in Wednesday's Copa del Rey return leg tie against Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.
"It's going to be difficult but the way I see it is that we have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. In the first leg, we proved that we are capable of giving Madrid a good run for their money and Sunday's win against Valladolid has given us an additional boost", Aspas explained in Monday's post-training press conference.
The Galician striker, who is the team's top scorer in the Liga BBVA with eight strikes, pointed out that even if Madrid win 1-0 "we will be knocked out" and so the best plan is to forget all about the 2-1 victory from the first leg in Vigo.
"To eliminate Madrid, we need to score two goals. We had a two-goal advantage at Balaídos but now we only have a slight advantage. Nevertheless we are still in with a chance", Aspas continued.
The player added that Madrid's recent troubles will have no impact on them on Wednesday night. "They have sufficient quality in their team and expertise to take this forward. The 20 players they have in their first team squad are among the 100 best players in the world - let's not forget that we are talking about Real Madrid here. It's the same group of players who won the league last season, together with a couple of reinforcements who are valued at 30-40 million euros".
Aspas ended by coming to the defence of Jose Mourinho, saying, "I can't understand why he is being criticized for one or two poor months after all of the good things he has done for the club and Madridismo".
