Iker Casillas, Real Madrid and Spain captain, has been declared, for the fifth time, as the best keeper of the year by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
In the vote, held amongst journalists from the five continents, Casillas raked in 224 points, easily overcoming Gianluigi Buffon of Juventus, who finished on 128.
Chelsea's Petr Cech was third with 92, whilst German Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich was fourth with 85. Englishman Joe Hart of Manchester City was fifth with 26, whilst Casillas' Spanish counterpart Victor Valdés of Barcelona was sixth with 15.
Casillas, 31, has now won the title for five years in a row, having been ranked second, third and twice fourth between 2003 and 2007.
