Cesc Fábregas has admitted that he is finding it difficult to hold down a place in the Barcelona starting 11.
Fàbregas shined for Spain in the 'false 9' position during the European Championships but knows he has little hope of playing that role for his club, as he has to compete with Leo Messi.
The midfielder told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "In Barça, the best player of all time plays in my favourite position. I'm talking about Messi, of course, and he doesn't play for Spain."
Fábregas added that he has been surprised by the level of competition within La Liga this season
"When I returned to Spain [from Arsenal] I was taken aback by the fact that La Liga is harder to win than the Premier League. In England it's easier to win the league, because even if you lose five or six games you still have a good chance, because there's more competition at the top."
The former Arsenal player also declared that nothing had changed in the team despite the change of coach, with Tito Vilanova taking over from Pep Guardiola this season.
"We do things in the same way as we did with Pep: the training, the preparation for the game, the tactics. The only difference is our way of expressing ourselves, but that's obvious."
