Radamel Falcao now knows which club are after him.

The race to sign the Colombian has already begun, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain having already started a secret war to land the Atlético Madrid forward, who they believe is the best forward in the world.

The three clubs have made contact with Gestifute, the agency which looks after Falcao, to find out first hand what the player's wishes are for next season. It is still early days, but the clubs made the move so they would not fall behind in their bid to buy him.

The three clubs have come up with similar offers: to start with, a contract that would see him earn around 10 million euros per year, almost triple what he earns at the moment with 'Los Colchoneros'; then a solid squad of players that would give his new team the best chance of winning the most important trophies, such as the league title and the Champions League. Atlético are well aware that contact was made, they know how much money they could earn from Falcao, and they know that these three clubs are the ones they have to keep an eye on.

The manoeuvres of these three clubs are tantamount to spying. Neither club wants to lose ground because they know of Atlético's financial problems and they know this is their last chance to sign Falcao, although he will not be cheap.

But a high price will be no excuse for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who wants coach Roberto Di Matteo to have an effective number nine at his disposal, owing to the disappointing career Fernando Torres has had at the club. On Friday the Italian reiterated his admiration for Falcao, saying: "Any coach would want him in their team, he is one of the best players in the world. His goals-per-game ratio is outstanding, not just this year, but in the last three seasons."

But Abramovich, like his competitors, knows it will not be easy to negotiate with Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes, and Atlético will want at least 60 million euros before they are ready to let him go.
