José Mourinho has decided to rest Cristiano Ronaldo and has omitted the player from his starting line-up for this evening's meeting with Deportivo at Riazor. The Portuguese forward may be handed minutes during the final half hour of the match but Mourinho wants him fresh for Tuesday's Copa del Rey semi-final decider against Barça at Camp Nou.
Rafael Varane was left out after failing a late fitness test on the day of the match while Sergio Ramos is serving a one-match ban.
The Real Madrid starting XI reads:
Diego López, Pepe, Kaká, Carvalho, Marcelo, Essien, Arbeloa, Modric, Higuaín, Callejón and Di María.
While those expected to start for hosts Depor are:
Aranzubía; Silvio, Kaká, Marchena, Ayoze; Abel Aguilar, Assunçao; Gama, Pizzi, Valerón and Riki.
