Catalonia coach Johan Cruyff released his squad sheet - clearly dominated by players from Barcelona and Espanyol - for the friendly on 2 January in the Cornellá-El Prat stadium against Nigeria, in what will be his last game in charge.
Cruyff will want to bow out with a victory as head coach against a Nigeria side preparing for the African Cup of Nations. Therefore, he selected ten players from Barcelona and seven from Espanyol in a list made up of players from only six teams.
Surprisingly there is no player from the Liga Adelante in the squad, particularly from Girona and Sabadell. Beyond the two Catalonia teams from the Liga BBVA, there are also players from AC Milan, Red Bull Salzburg, Getafe and Rayo Vallecano.
One significant absence is Barcelona's Cesc Fábregas, who is out injured and is fighting to regain his fitness to play in the local derby against Espanyol on 6 January, just four days after the Catalonian players from both sides share a dressing room.
The squad is made up of the following players:
Joan Verdú, Joan Capdevila, Sergio García, Kiko Casilla, Raúl Rodríguez, Víctor Sánchez, Sergio Tejera (Espanyol), Víctor Valdés, Xavi Hernández, Carles Puyol, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Martín Montoya, Sergi Roberto, Cristian Tello, Marc Bartra (Barcelona), Bojan Krkic (AC Milan), Álvaro Vázquez (Getafe), Jordi Amat, ''Piti'' (Rayo Vallecano) and Jonathan Soriano (Red Bull Salzburg).
Monitor finances, choose your signings wisely, select the best strategy, and face off friends to become the best manager in the world.
