Spartak Moscow's Spanish coach, Unai Emery, faced the press' questions before the fifth game of the Champions League group stage, that pits his team against might Barcelona. The coach however said that his team were ready to go out and "break the stats" of the Catalan outfit and try to "do the same as Celtic did". The Scots are the only team who have managed to beat Barcelona so far this season.
Emery said that there are reasons to be optimistic, and that they would exploit their opportunities to the maximum. "Barça are shipping more goals than usual, but they have still only lost one game, and they would normally be expected to have won that. We are going to take advantage of every opportunity we get and play our style of football. Our aim is to get three points, because we want to be in Europe come the spring".
The trainer from the Basque Country, who took over the reins at the Moscow club five months ago, explained that his team might be able to take advantage of the Barcelona defence to achieve a shock result. "We need to look for their weakness and it could be their defence", said Emery. In spite of that the ex-Valencia man was adamant that it would be a "tough game", given the level of their rivals. He reminded the journalists though that Spartak are a "strong team" and that they have "won their last three games".
