Manchester United are believed to be interested in signing Rayo Vallecano's Brazilian forward Leo Baptistao, after Sir Alex Ferguson's brother Martin was spotted in the Estadio de Vallecas on Monday night, watching the player in action against Getafe.

Martin Ferguson would have been impressed with what he saw, as Leo helped Rayo romp to a dominant 3-1 win over their Madrid neighbours. Atlético Madrid are also interested in singing Leo, but now United know they could land the player for just two million euros, and Martin Ferguson has recommended the club sign him as a replacement for Javier Hernández, who cannot hold down a place in the first team and who they are expected to receive a number of offers for in the summer.

In other transfer news, Juventus, current leaders of Serie A, are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuaín next season, to partner Fernando Llorente, who is likely to join the 'Old Lady' once his contract at San Mamés expires in June. The Italian press claims the club mean business in the Champions League next season and such a ferocious strikeforce would help achieve their ambition of returning the trophy to Turin for the first time since 1996.

Meanwhile, after Pep Guardiola confirmed on Monday at the FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony that he was going to return to coaching next season, the European press has barely stopped linking him with possible clubs. The favourites are Manchester City, whose current director of football Txiki Begiristain appointed the Catalan as Barça coach in 2008.

But it is not just the Citizens who want to bring the two-time Champions League winning coach to their dugout, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal also interested. Other European clubs following his footsteps closely are Bayern Munich and AC Milan.
