The highly coveted winger Gareth Bale has revealed that he is trying to imitate the way Cristiano Ronaldo plays football.
Bale's equaliser for Tottenham against Norwich on Wednesday night bore many similarities to goals scored by the Portuguese forward both for Manchester United and Real Madrid.
The Welshman began his run from inside his own half and beat defenders on his way towards goal, shooting past goalkeeper Mark Bunn from just inside the penalty area.
People have said things in the past [that] the stuff he [Cristiano] does is similar in a way to what I do," said the Welshman after the game.
"The way he plays I think he is the best all-round player in the world. All I can do is keep playing my football. He is right up there and a benchmark for every player who wants to be as good as him.
"You set your sights [on playing like him] - he is on a different planet apart from [Lionel] Messi. He is one of those players that everyone aspires to and I'd love to be half as good as him.
"The free-kick technique works for him and he scores a lot of goals and big goals. He is obviously doing something right and it's good to look at other players, how they do things and take my game to another level.
Bale is believed to be one of Real Madrid's principal transfer targets for next summer and in the past he has spoken of his admiration for 'Los Blancos', especially when he was growing and watching the 'Galactico' team of the early 2000s containing Roberto Carlos, Zinedine Zidane and Raúl.
