Iker Casillas spoke to the press while appearing to do some promotional work with Philips this afternoon, and went over a number of the talking points of the moment involving his club.
Would Falcao fit in at Madrid?
"For us, the people that are at the club matter: Benzema, Higuaín, Morata... I'm not the person to say who would fit in and who should come to Madrid."
What do you think of drawing Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey, and a possible semi-final with Barcelona?
"There's still a long way to go until that hypothetical semi-final; three knock-out rounds. We have to focus on Alcoyano, as we've slipped up a few times against teams that on paper are lesser than Madrid. We have to give them the respect they deserve, they'll play with nothing to lose and a lot to win."
How do you feel about being an idol for so many people?
"Knowing that people like and respect me makes me proud, because that's a reward for the effort, and trying to be the best possible for Madrid and Spain."
Will Mourinho use a reserve player at left-back?
"I think we have enough options to cover for the injured players. There are younger players who are ready and the boss knows them. I'm sure that he'll look for the best solutions."
Why did you put that message on the social networks about being hurt, and unable to take any more?
"Social networks are a part of our lives and I reached a point where I decided to give my opinion about the comments that have been made recently. I thought it was the right moment. I just wanted to clarify some things and I chose to do it through a medium that people pay a lot of attention to these days."
You had never been so criticised. How did you take it - were you fed up or were you able to laugh about it?
"You have to take it with a bit of humour. As long as it's constructive criticism, it's positive. When you've been doing well for a long time and in two matches you don't shine, everything seems black. But things change in two or three games. I'm not getting worried right now. It's all a normal part of football. I'm going to keep working, trying to change these opinions."
What do you think of the video that Barcelona made of Pepe?
"I don't know what to tell you. It surprises me that Barcelona would make this kind of video. I understand that they do it to watch their opponents but it isn't right for a club like Barça."
