Jerome Boateng to miss last 16 through suspension

Boateng was handed a two-game ban by UEFA for his straight red card against BATE Borisov. There is also a strong possibility Real Madrid could be drawn against Bayern in the draw for the last 16 on Thursday.

According to the Bayern Munich website, Jerome Boateng will not play in the last sixteen of the Champions League. He was handed a two-game suspension by UEFA for his straight red card against BATE Borisov

Boateng was sent off in the 51st minute of the final game of the group stages, played on 5 November, for a tackle on Kontsevoi.

Bayern Munich finished first in Group F, equal on points with Valencia, and is one of Real Madrid's potential rivals in the draw for the last 16, to take place on Thursday, after 'Los Blancos' finished second in Group D.
