The Fernando Llorente transfer saga came to a close on Thursday morning when Juventus announced that the striker would join the club on 1 July, the day his contract with Athletic Bilbao expires.
Llorente will sign a four-year contract, with the option of a fifth year, and will earn a salary of 4.5 million euros per year plus bonuses.
To this end the 28-year-old has finally realised his desire of wanting to leave the Basque outfit for a Champions League side, ever since he made it clear he would not sign a new deal with Athletic last summer, provoking the ire of a number of the club's fans, who have booed him at training and at matches at San Mamés ever since.
When he leaves in July, Llorente will have completed nine years at Athletic, and so far has played 314 games and scored 116 goals for 'Los Leones'. However, he has started just one league game this season and his relationship with coach Marcelo Bielsa appears to be beyond repair.
Juventus have always been at the forefront of the clubs hoping to sign the forward, and they believe he is the man they need to help them win the Champions League. Now that the transfer has been made official, that is what will be expected of Llorente.
