Sami Khedira, currently enjoying one of the best periods in his career, gave a press conference on Tuesday about his current form and Real Madrid's change in fortunes.
Madrid face Valencia at the Mestalla on Wednesday for their Copa del Rey quarter final second leg tie, three days after thrashing Ernesto Valverde's side 5-0 in the league.
His form: "I feel good in this team, I want to make that clear. For me it's very important to have the faith of the coach. I'm playing well and in perfect shape, we are all perfect at the moment."
Team Unity: "We were in a difficult situation and we were not getting good results, but we've spoken with each other and we've worked very hard in the last few weeks. We are on the right track, and we are playing in a more compact way.
"When you lose games you have to make many changes. We needed our defensive line to be more compact, and we have improved, especially our defence, and we are great going forward thanks to Cristiano, Di María and Mesut Özil."
Can Madrid win the Champions League and save the season? "It's a difficult question, I think it's too soon to talk about saving the season, but we'll try to do as best as we can in the league. We have to keep playing at our best. We are still in the Champions League, which is a very important competition for us this season, like every season. We're going to try to win the Champions League but we're going to go for the Copa del Rey too, for everything. We have three important challenges ahead of us."
Recognition: "For me the most important thing is that the boss and the coaching staff are happy with me. I don't know why I've been getting praise, the press has been nice to me but I just try to do my best for the team. I'm playing well but I want to try to stay at this level and remain consistent."
The resounding win over Valencia: "We simply just played to our strengths, as Mourinho taught us. Perhaps before there were some players who weren't playing at their best but now we are all playing well. It's crucial that we take our chances and believe we are going to win."
In their last four games Madrid have scored 11 goals and conceded none. Positive signs ahead of the Valencia game? "We won the first leg 2-0 and that's a comfortable lead for us. It's good to not concede goals but it's also vital that we score goals, we have to go on the attack. But we can't forget that we start the game at 0-0 and we'll have to give everything to win this game."
Referees: "They have to make big decisions in every game and it's not easy for them. There's no difference between the referees in Spain and Germany. There are good referees in Spain."
Does the team need to start working harder now? "Not at all. When things aren't going well you have to change things and be hard on yourself. We had little time in the preseason but we worked very hard. You have little time to reflect during the season, but the weeks we had off were crucial."
Is now a good time to face Barça or Málaga? "We can't think about the next round, we have to think about this game for now. Right now it doesn't make a lot of difference whether we might face Málaga or Barcelona. They are both strong teams, when the time comes we'll speak about them."
