On Tuesday, FC Barcelona announced that Leo Messi will be the next player to sign his new agreement with the club. Messi follows team captains Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernández, who put pen to paper to sign contract extensions with the Blaugranas in recent weeks. He is currently with the Argentina squad in Sweden and will sign the new contact, which expires in June 2018, on his return. The player is due at the club's offices at 16:30 local time on Thursday.
Barça confirmed the news of Messi's contract extension on 18th December. The Argentinean adds an extra two seasons onto his previous contract which was due to run out in June 2016.
