Cheque book ready: Manchester City are believed to be ready to offer 20 million euros to lure David Villa away from Camp Nou. City see Villa as the ideal replacement for Balotelli and have not been deterred by comments from Arsene Wenger yesterday that Barcelona refused to enter negotiations for the striker during the winter transfer window. Following Balotelli's move to AC Milan, City are looking for a replacement and have cited El Guaje as their preferred option.
High profile addition: Inter Milan meanwhile are reported to be looking to make a big name signing before deadline day and are on the lookout for a midfield playmaker. While Fernando Gago remains an option, the Italians are rumoured to be ready to call Real Madrid with an asking price for Luka Modric - a reinforcement which would help them stand up to the mighty Juve.
Simeone scouring the market: Atlético de Madrid are contemplating a move for Ricky Álvarez should the operation to sign Yoann Gourcuff fail. The Rojiblancos have been put out by the player's refusal to join them on loan in the winter inscription period and may decide to prise the Argentinean away from Inter Milan where he has been out of favour. For Simeone, he would be the ideal man to boss the team's attack from midfield.
Negredo still on Spurs agenda: He remains one of the most sought-after centre forwards in Spain and Tottenham Hotspur remain his principal suitor. The Londoners know that it would be impossible to secure the player's signature in the few hours while the transfer window remains open but look certain to re-open talks with Del Nido over the summer. Even Negredo himself has admitted that he is tempted by the idea of a move to the Premier League - it could happen if economic differences are resolved.
Rayo's Abu gets noticed in Denmark: Danish outfit Nordsjaelland have come calling for Rayo Vallecano midfielder Mohammed Abu. The Ghanaian joined Rayo on loan from Manchester City last summer and Nordsjaelland have requested a loan until the end of the season. The Madrileños could be open to the idea as Abu has made just one appearance since his arrival in the capital.
