Today, José Mourinho must decide whether to continue with Antonio Adán as his starting goalkeeper or hand recent arrival Diego López his first run-out against Barcelona in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final. Both options have their pros and cons. Adán looked solid in Madrid's last outing against Getafe but not quite so confident in other, recent performances. Diego López meanwhile has more experience and will be boosted by his return to his old club. His track record against Barcelona however, is cause for concern.
If Mou plumps for Diego López against Barça tonight, the keeper will find himself up against Leo Messi - a player who has beaten him six times (three braces) in previous league encounters. The first was in the 4-1 defeat in 2009/10, the second the following season and more recently, in the 5-0 hammering Barça meted out last term. In the keeper's favour though is that in his first five encounters with Barça. Messi couldn't find a way past him.
Prior to his return to Madrid last week, Diego López's worst enemy was Barcelona. The Catalans have put 20 goals past him in nine league matches; only his current employers Real Madrid have scored more - 25 in total.
