Leo Messi was stretchered off the pitch in the 86th minute of Barcelona's 0-0 draw with Benfica. The Argentine fell awkwardly after shooting on goal and is believed to have brusing on his left knee.
With the Catalans already through to the next round as group winners, Tito Vilanova fielded an under strength side, featuring several academy players and few regular starters. Benfica were the superior side as a result but were unable to break down Barça, and went out of the competition after Celtic beat Spartak Moscow 2-1 to finish second.
