Spain coach Vicente del Bosque attended the youth tournament 'Torneo de Alavines' in Tenerife on Thursday and spoke to TV show 'Deportes Cuatro'.

He remained cool when asked whether José Mourinho was right to drop Iker Casillas for Madrid's game against Málaga last Saturday, declaring: "Those are decisions coaches have to make, I have nothing to say on the matter. It shouldn't have taken us by surprise, I imagine he must have thought it was what was best for the team."

And the coach gave no hints away as to whether he saw a future in his Spain team for Madrid goalkeeper Antonio Adán, who stood in for Casillas in La Rosaleda and conceded three goals against Málaga.

"It depends on how things turn out, every player has the chance of being picked," he said.

The former Madrid coach said there was "a very big gap" between 'Los Blancos' and Barcelona in the league, referring to the 16-point difference between the two sides, but stressed "there is a lot of football still to be played". However, he believes that Real's neighbours Atlético Madrid, currently second placed in the league table and nine points behind the Catalans, "have a reasonable chance of catching up with Barcelona".
