Rayo Vallecano coach Paco Jémez was in euphoric mood after seeing his side flatten Getafe 3-1 at the Estadio de Vallecas, a result which takes them to 7th place in the league table.
"The game was possibly the best we have played until now. The first half was better than we are used to. Rayo have done what we had to do, we created chances and if we had been more accurate we could have scored even more," he said in his post-match press conference.
An opening goal by Lass followed by a brace from Piti gave Jémez's side the points, while Paco Alcácer scored a late consolation goal for the visitors. However, despite Rayo's scintillating performance, Jémez still believes his side can improve.
"I think that we can do things even better. It'll be difficult to play as well as we have did in the first half an hour again but I think there is margin for improvement in the team and that we need to demand more of ourselves," he said.
"Beyond scoring goals, we have to praise the team for creating so many chances. This means that the team are working well together. If we keep on creating chances and staying strong in defence then we're going to gain a lot of points. We scored as many goals as we were able to, I'm not going to single anyone out for not taking a chance."
Jémez admitted he did not imagine his team would be in the position they are at the moment - 7th in the league and with 28 points after 18 games - but said he now thinks that Rayo can achieve great things despite their slim budget.
"Although I am an optimist and I always demand the best, I didn't think we'd be in such a good position as we are in at the moment.
"I have experience with teams with small budgets and we've managed to achieve great things. A big budget helps but it's not everything. Humble people, if they are brave and ambitious, are capable of achieving certain things. When I arrived in the summer I trusted in a certain way of doing things and was committed to achieving something big. We still have not done that, we have to think that we still haven't achieved much, and that's how we'll improve."
