Diego Costa was once again the hero for Atlético Madrid as 'Los Rojiblancos' drew 2-2 with Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán to seal their place in the Copa del Rey final.
The Brazilian opened the scoring after six minutes and then set up Radamel Falcao's goal on 28 minutes to all but kill off the tie.
"It was a tough game but we knew if we played like we know how we'd be able to get through it," the forward said after the game.
Costa was again the victim of many fouls and at the end of the game was kicked in the groin byKondogbia, who was given a straight red card, joining Gary Medel in heading for an early shower.
Costa explained he was careful to not rise to the bait.
"I had it all under control," he explained.
"I made sure I stayed on the floor so I couldn't get up and react [after the tackle from Kondogbia]. People used to talk about me as if I was a murderer because of the way I played. I know that I was wrong back then and now I try to control myself. They [Sevilla's players] didn't go out looking to wind me up, I was just there."
Costa also played down his own run of good form on the pitch, instead focusing on the efforts of his team-mates. He said: "The team are playing well and that's why things are going well for me. I don't consider myself to be a talisman, I just work hard from one day to the next so I can improve, I hope I can keep doing that."
Diego Simeone's side will meet Real Madrid in the final and May, but Costa insisted that he and his team-mates had no preference about who they would face.
"We just wanted to get to the final, we didn't think about who we were going to play," he said.
"Now we have to focus on the league again and keep going."
And the Brazilian dismissed talk of the final being a showdown with Sergio Ramos and Pepe, following the confrontation he had with the two Madrid players at the Bernabéu in December.
"We shook hands after that game, there's no problem between us," he stressed.
