Pep Guardiola, one of the three candidates for FIFA's Coach of the Year award, declared in Monday's pre-gala press conference that although he is enjoying his year sabbatical, he will return to coaching next season.

Year off: "At the moment, I live football in a completely different way to when I was working. I watch games on television and enjoying watching the big teams and the top players - just like any other fan".

Returning to work: "Next season, I will return to coaching. I'll be back. I am only 41, I am still young. Right now, I am living the life I want to lead - that is what I wanted and what my family deserve. I don't have a team in mind nor do I know where I might end up but I will coach again. Bayern Munich? They have Jupp Heynkes and it would be very disrespectful if I were to open talks with a club which already has a coach. I have made my decision to return to coaching but I have not decided where I will go".

Brazil's national team post: "For a country which has won so many World Cups to consider me for the job of coaching their team is a great honour but I have always felt that it is better for natives to coach a national team. They have many great coaches in Brazil and Scolari is the best example of the level of managers they have there. I am very grateful and thankful that they have thought of me. Their coaches feel something very special when they are in charge of the national team and Brazil are one of the candidates to win the World Cup - especially seeing as they are hosting the tournament.

The new Barça: "Barcelona are as entertaining as ever whenever I watch them. I was lucky enough to have been a part of the club and the best present I could have is that they are the same as when I left, if not better. This isn't down to just one person, It's the work of many people and fortunately, I was part of that, training a great group of players. I am thrilled to see that Barça is still a shining example in the world of football".
