Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, absent from competition for the past seven months due to a knee injury, is on the list of players for the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event at Indian Wells, to be held between 4 and 17 March, according to the organisers.
Nadal, who won the Californian event in 2007 and 2009, has been out of competition since 28 June last year, when he crashed out of Wimbledon. The player should be back in action in the clay court Brazil Open in Sao Paulo (11 February), although he has delayed his return on a number of occasions. According to sources however he has successfully passed his latest medical and is ready to play.
Whilst out of action the player has missed two Grand Slam events (US Open, won by Scot Andy Murray, as well as the Australian Open currently in play), the London Olympics and the final of the Davis Cup. Missing these events will result in Nadal being pushed down into number five spot on the world rankings after the Australian Open.
