Raúl Martín Presa, the Rayo Vallecano president, has called the act of sabotage which lead to Rayo's game with Real Madrid being postponed "an act of football terrorism".

Presa was speaking at a press conference today, which was attended by over 100 journalists and 20 television stations, an unprecedented amount of media interest for a Rayo press conference.

The game is set to take place later today at 19:45 but Presa revealed the club would test the floodlights at 15:00 before officially confirming it will go ahead, but said he believed "the game will go ahead unless a meteor falls onto earth".

He said: "Yesterday we were the victims of a sabotage, an attack, an act of football terrorism which prevented ordinary people from going to watch a spectacle. I want to thank all Rayo supporters, who showed exemplary behaviour, and I would like to express my sincere apologies for this distressing incident.

Luis Yáñez, Rayo's director general, explained that all 57 cables that connect to the power outlet of the floodlights had been cut, while Presa added "the cables were cut by people with consirable knowledge of electricals and not by simple vandals."
