Sir Alex Ferguson has all but ruled out Manchester United re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
United lost 0-1 to Norwich City on Saturday in the Premier League and Ferguson was asked after the game if he wanted the Portuguese forward, who became a household name at Old Trafford, to return to his side.
AS reported last week that Ronaldo is still unhappy at Madrid and could leave in the summer, but Ferguson thought it was unlikely the player would be back wearing a Manchester United shirt any time soon, as the club, which currently has a debt of 359.7 million pounds, would be unable to afford his transfer fee.
"I don't think it will happen but I would like to think it would," said the United boss. "You're talking about incredible amounts of money now. What would his value be? He's a fit boy, he's never injured and he never misses a game."
United sold Ronaldo to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 for a record breaking 94 million euros, a decision does not regret.
"He always wanted to play for Real Madrid. That was his boyhood dream and he's got that but I'm not saying he's staying there forever," he added.
"There's every chance he might leave, you never know. He's definitely unbuyable. Who could afford him? One of the Russian teams could buy him but do you think he'd want to go to Russia?"
