Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcántara told reporters in Friday's press conference that he was personally to blame for Málaga's opening goal in Thursday's Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg tie at Camp Nou.

The move leading up to Málaga's first goal. "We have a certain style of football which we fully believe in but sometimes, within a matter of seconds, mistakes can happen and this time, it was my turn. We have to move on from it and start thinking about the Real Sociedad game. Of course it is something which you can learn from - nobody wants to commit the same error twice. It was a move which we have seen thousands of times; you have to make an instant decision and sometimes you get it right and other times you don't. These situations arise in matches but we have to remain true to our style of play. I feel bad about it because it undermines the hard work of my team mates.

Complaints from the stands for being too extravagant when in possession. "The reason why I have got this far is for my style of play and I don't think that I should suddenly have to change the way I play. It is what brought me here to the best club in the world and so I will continue playing the way I do".

Was Pinto at fault? "No, as I said earlier, we have a certain style of football and the keeper could only do what he did. In a split second, I made a decision to control the ball instead of passing it first time to a team mate. I controlled the ball badly and I have to hold my hand up for what happened next. These things happen".

A draw will help to keep the team's feet on the ground? "No, I don't think it's good to take a step backwards. We have strung together a decent run but it was always a question of time before something like this happened. It would be great to win every single game but unfortunately, that's impossible".

The return leg. "We will be treating the return game in exactly the same way. It's not our style to just defend the result from the first leg - we always want to win and next week's match will be no different. Málaga will have a home advantage and two away goals but we have shown that we are capable of creating chances on goal and so we are confident that we can get through the tie".

Guardiola. "It's brilliant news that someone like Guardiola is returning to the game. He made history here at this club and I am sure he will enjoy some incredible seasons at Bayern. At Barça, there is a strong youth policy - the young players come through. I don't know what Bayern's philosophy is regarding their youth players but I would imagine that he will try to bring younger players into the team".

Bayern as a possible destination for Barça's youth team stars. "Every club has its own philosophy. Of course that can adapt to a new one and Bayern already have players who can play a pass-and-move game perfectly well. Would I be tempted to move there? Well, I am quite happy where I am and it's not something which I have considered".

Alexis Sánchez. "A couple of weeks ago, he scored two goals and now there are doubts about him for his performance last night. In training, he is one of the players who always gives the most, who runs the most. In our matches, he creates chances for the team because he is constantly running from one end of the pitch to the other. He is one of the most committed and dedicated players at the club and you cannot take him to task for that".
