Manchester United still dream of re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo one day and British newspaper 'The Daily Star' has reported that the club will make Real Madrid an audacious offer of 63.5 million euros this summer to make that dream a reality.

United are believed to be preparing a complex package to finance the operation, involving sponsorships that have an economic interest in seeing the player return to the Premier League, a model which could soon become commonplace in European football.

The possible departure of José Real Madrid this summer, plus the huge influence that Sir Alex Ferguson had on Cristiano's career and the little support the player feels from the club in his rivalry with Leo Messi are all motives that could see the Portuguese swap Madrid for Manchester, according to the newspaper.

Cristiano returns to Old Trafford on 5 March for Real Madrid's Champions League last 16 second leg tie with United, and Ferguson has admitted to the press that he would love to see the player return on a permanent basis.

The player's contract with Madrid expires in 2015 and he has yet to agree a new deal with the club. As AS reported earlier this week, he will hold talks with Madrid president Florentino Pérez at the end of the season, when Florentino will try to convince him to commit his future to 'Los Blancos' and iron out his differences with the player, which lead him to declaring last September that he was 'sad'.
