Real Madrid have agreed to sell Fernando Gago to Valencia and are in the process of reaching a deal regarding Sergio Canales.

Gago will sign a four year deal with Valencia while Canales is on the verge of making his loan deal permanent. The deal could be wrapped up by tonight and is believed to be worth around nine million euros for both players.

Gago leaves 'los blancos' after four seasons at the Bernabéu,. The Argentine midfielder was signed by Fabio Capello from Boca Juniors in December 2006 for over 20 million euros but did not have a successful stay in the Spanish capital. He spent last season on loan with Roma and has agreed to take a 50% pay cut to join Valencia.

Canales, meanwhile, leaves Madrid permanently, although the club do have a buy-back option in the contract. Canales joined Madrid in 2010 from Racing Santander in 2010, but never managed to become a regular feature in José Mourinho's starting line up. He was loaned out to Valencia at the start of 2011/12 but his development at the Mestalla has been stunted due to picking up two knee injuries.
