The Spanish Football Federation has handed a two match ban to Valencia coach Mauricio Pelligrino, who was sent from his dugout to the stands during his side's 2-0 win over Atlético Madrid last Saturday.

Match referee Fernando Teixeira Vitienes sent the Argentine coach off for "demonstrating his disapproval with a decision by violently throwing a bottle of water to the ground and leaving his technical area to complain to the fourth official".

Pellegrino will have to watch his sides next two league games, away to Valladolid next Sunday and then home to Espanyol the following Saturday, from the stands, as will his assistant Horacio Compagnucci, who was sent off towards the end of the same game for "protesting a decision by raising his voice and raising his arms".

The Federation has also upheld the yellow card given to Radamel Falcao during the game, despite appeals from Atlético that the player pushed an opposition player to the ground involuntarily.

Other players who will miss next week's games due to suspensions are Ricardo Costa (Valencia) and Rubén (Osasuna), both for being sent off after receiving two yellow cards in their last matches, while Martin Demichelis, Ignacio Camacho (Málaga) and Wakaso (Espanyol) will also miss the next game with their respective clubs after accumulating five yellow cards.
