Valverde dealt two-match ban in the Cup

The Valencia coach must serve a ban for being sent off in the Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid but he will be on the bench for Sunday's league meeting.

The Spanish Football Federation's Disciplinary Board has handed a two-match suspension to Valencia coach Ernesto Valverde as punishment for his dismissal in Wednesday's Copa del Rey quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid.

Valverde was penalized under Article 120 of the RFEF's Disciplinary rule book which stipulates that players who protest to the referee or his assistants during play could be handed a suspension from between two to three game up to one month.

Also unable to take part in next week's return legs will be Zaragoza's Álvaro González and Betis' Paulao who have both reached the maximum limit of yellow cards as well as Málaga defender Nacho Monreal who was issued a red card against Barcelona at Camp Nou.
