The Dutchman was taken off after picking up a knock during the build-up to Rafael's goal. Although the injury didn't look serious, Ferguson decided not to take any chances and replaced him with Welbeck.

Van Persie se marchó lesionado en el QPR-Manchester United

Robin Van Persie left the field at Loftus Road after he seemed to pick up a back injury in the build-up to Rafael's goal. Alex Ferguson was taking no chances and decided to replace him with Welbeck in order to avoid aggravating the injury further. Van Persie also looked unconcerned as he left the pitch.

The substitution was clearly precautionary and looks unlikely to have any bearing on Van Persie featuring in the return leg of the last 16 Champions League tie against Real Madrid at Old Trafford.
